Located in the Heart of England, Pure Darkness limited is based near to Birmingham, the city whose reputation was forged during the Industrial Revolution, where historic waterways and canal heritage still survive, mixed with the modern architecture of a vibrant and prosperous city, The Birth Place of Heavy Metal.
Pure Darkness Records is home to Abigail's Mercy and Acid Tongue
Hailing from the area surrounding the birth place of heavy metal, and with a name inspired by Arthur Millers 'The Crucibl' (a story of the Salem witch trials), ABIGAIL'S MERCY play 'Dark Melodic Metal' in the vein of the classic sounds of Sisters of Mercy but with a nod toward the current rash of Euro-metal like Nightwish and Lacuna Coil with overtones of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and other Great British rock acts.
The band formed to pursue a common love of alternative metal. They produced and recorded their first release "Salvation" in 2005 on a limited budget but managed to create an acclaimed album. The album was released through Casket records and quickly became a rated album with HMV.
The first album spawned an acclaimed video for "To hell with angels".
The follow-up album to be released by the now four piece band is titled “After the fall” and has been published by Pure Darkness Music on the Pure Darkness Records Label.
The album was recorded in Birmingham UK and produced by the Ivor Novello nominated producer Ian Wallman.
The first single released from the album was "Summerland" which gained a significant amount of airplay up and down the country and has earned the band quite a surprisingly large following in The United States thanks to digital download sales; the Coupe being part of the degree curriculum study list at a Texas University.
Formed in South Wales in 1995, Acid Tongue is a hard edged protest against the evils of this world. An anthology of emotions inspired by the cruelties of life.
By not conforming to the constraints of traditional music Acid Tongue deliver an intense sensory assault expressed in a passionately aggressive and extraordinary creative fashion. By fusing elements of musical genres such as Metal, Industrial and Techno, Acid Tongue create disturbing yet moving soundscapes that reflect the world around them. Each band member confronts and exorcises their own personal demons through the music they craft and the presence they project when performing on stage. Unlike many of their contemporaries they have managed to stake out their own territory within this peer group.
Acid Tongue released 4 demos taking them into the millennium. The new era caused a few line up changes and various NHS induced hiatuses, culminating in the band's present and most effective line up, resulting in the band signing a recording deal with Pure Darkness Music. The band have now completed their first full length album titled "Antidotes For Love" and are poised ready to unleash their unique brand of brutality unto the awaiting hordes of music fans…
